Ramamurthy Naidu, the younger brother of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, passed away on November 16 at the age of 72 after a prolonged illness. He had been hospitalized three days prior and was on a ventilator due to serious cardio-respiratory issues.
Ramamurthy Naidu was admitted to AIG Hospital in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli area on November 14 in a state of cardiac arrest. Despite efforts to stabilize his condition, he succumbed to his illness at 12:45 pm on November 16.
The news of his death has deeply saddened the Naidu family, and tributes have poured in from political leaders and well-wishers. Chandrababu Naidu shared his grief on social media, stating, "With a heavy heart, I inform everyone that my brother, former Chandragiri MLA Nara Ramamurthy Naidu, has left us. He was a leader who served the people with a pure heart in public life. His departure has filled our family with immense sorrow. I pray that his soul will find peace."
The final rites for Ramamurthy Naidu will be conducted on Sunday, November 17, in his native village of Naravaripalle.
Ramamurthy Naidu was a prominent political figure in Andhra Pradesh, having served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Chandragiri constituency after winning the 1994 elections. He represented the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and made significant contributions to the state’s development.
He was also the father of actor and film producer Nara Rohit, who is an alumnus of the New York Film Academy and has carved out a successful career in the Telugu film industry.
Politicians from across the state have expressed their condolences. Lok Sabha MP Dr. Sudhakar K sent his deepest sympathies to Chandrababu Naidu and the Naidu family, saying, "My deepest condolences to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Chandrababu Naidu on the sad demise of his beloved brother, Shri Ramamurthy Naidu garu. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of grief. May the departed soul attain Sadgati. Om Shanti."
